Making an Impact on Campus and in Local Community

The undergrads of Gamma Upsilon have certainly been busy—and successful—this year. They’ve earned respect across campus and in the local community for recruiting quality members, excelling academically, and demonstrating strong leadership.

Last semester alone, the chapter received a top five GPA on campus, won various philanthropy events and hosted several at the house, and initiated 31 new members (after narrowing down 100 recruited). In addition, several members are currently serving on the interfraternity council.

Chris Meyer ’77: A Delt for Life

If there’s one thing Chris “Chrisco” Meyer ’77 gained from being Miami Delt, it is loyalty.

“It is an important value to learn and have,” he says. “I am loyal to my family, friends, community, church, and Brothers to this day. This would be the biggest contribution of the fraternity to my life today.”

And he’s not exaggerating. Even after all these years, he still treasures time with his brothers.

Delts Remember Wally Carson (AKA Daddy-O)

Roger Grigg ’70 recently shared an anecdote about Wallace Carson (better known by many as Daddy-O or ‘the old man’), who was the cook at the old shelter until it was tore down in 1969.

The number of comments on that article alone is enough to prove how influential this man was in the lives of the Delts who had the pleasure of knowing him. Wallace passed away a few years later, but he lives on in the memory of the many members today.
