We have recently learned of the passing of four of our Sigma Chi Brothers. We regretfully inform you of the passing of Robert D. Russell, Charles E. Bancroft, Milton M. Bowen, Jr., Carlos C. Bancroft III, E. William Swanson, Jr., as reported in the summer 2020 edition of "Rainbow".

Robert D. Russell, 1948

"Chub", age 96 of Hudson, OH. US Navy veteran, WWII; employed by Pickands Mather & Co. for 37 years; Hall of Fame QB for Miami University and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns. Beloved husband of the late Martha "Marty" Russell (nee Dawley); loving father of Nancy Knights of Streetsboro, OH and Susan Kollman (Scott) of Twinsburg, OH; grandfather of Douglas Kollman (Margaret), Elizabeth Bresky (Derrick), William Kollman, Andrew Knights (Jill) and Emily Knights; great-grandfather of Jonathan, Daphne, Penelope Kollman, James, Emma Bresky and Jameson and Beckham Knights.

Charles E. Bancroft, 1950

Charlie was born May 31, 1925 in Mansfield, OH to Charles DeForest Bancroft and Kathryne Louise Bancroft. He graduated from Mansfield High School in 1943. He immediately enlisted in the United States Army and served with valor in the Pacific Theater earning both the American and Asiatic Theater Ribbon and a Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged in February 1946. He then attended Miami of Ohio University where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
He began his lifelong career in the insurance industry with Lumbermens Mutual of Mansfield, OH. He is survived by his two daughters Katy Stauffer and Amy Wade whom he had with his first wife Judy Maize Bancroft and six grandchildren: Christopher and Samantha Stauffer, Oliver, Phoebe, Abigail, and Louise Wade and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Carlos C. Bancroft, III, 1954

Carl was born in Montpelier, VT in 1933 and died at age 86 on June 9, 2019. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1954 and then served his AFROTC commitment, learning to fly jet fighters at Tyndall AFB. In I961 he was recalled to active duty to serve during the Berlin Crisis. In 1964 Carl earned a master's degree from the Wharton School. Carl and Anne relocated to Albuquerque where Carl consulted, volunteered and played golf, enjoying the company of people. Carl was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Bancroft Cole. He is survived by Anne Bancroft his wife of 61 years, son David Bancroft, grandchildren Ian and Ava Cole, sister Jane Maguire, and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
