In the fall of 1911 seventeen men under the leadership of C. Stuart Clarke’14 formed a local fraternity called Omega Psi Rho. The fraternity existed sub rosa until a house was rented, furnished and made ready for occupancy. There was little thought of nationalization at first and only the binding together of a group of men with real fraternity spirit and ideals.
On November 25, 1916, Gamma Upsilon Chapter was installed as the 60th member of the Delta Tau Delta family. Nineteen undergraduates and seventeen Alumni were initiated.

Climer Guest Lodge
Fred Climer and Irene White both received their Bachelor of Arts degress from Miami in 1917 and, as undergraduates, were both prominent in University academic and social activities. After Fred Climer returned from overseas service in World War I, they were married on January 23, 1920. During the following years Fred Climer rose to become an important officer in the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, becoming assistant to the president in 1943 and vice president in charge of industrial relations in 1947. He was also active in the YMCA and in 1953 became a member of Miami's Board of Trustees. From 1956, the year of his retirement from Goodyear, to 1959 Climer was Board treasurer and he served as Board vice chairman from 1959-1962.
After Climer's retirement, the Climers maintained homes in both New Richmond, Ohio and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Fred Climer died at his Florida home on August 26, 1974.
