Brother David Smeltzer: A True Believer in Paying it Forward

What have your brothers been up to lately? Brother David Smeltzer gave us an inside what he’s been up to since his time in Gamma Upsilon Chapter:

“After 50 years in the paper industry, I retired, but then have been working as a representative for an African hunting concession. This has allowed me to take 5 different trips to Africa and “bag” over 8 trophies in the Safari Club International trophy book.

The Delt years at Miami helped me in valuable social skills and some fraternity experiences, such as hell Week, etc. that I remember (and treasure) to this day.

Both my father and uncle were Delts at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, so I give annually to the fund in their memory. I have also established a partial STEM scholarship at Miami that gives preference to Delt brothers and Delta Gammas (my mother’s sorority).

I am a true believer in “paying it forward”: all Delts should consider giving to the fund or to their respective universities to help the next generation of Delts successfully finish their education.
